In Memory of James E. Kleinrichert Jr.

James and Mary Ann Kleinrichert created the James Jr. Fund, in memory of their beloved son who passed away in 1982 of Leukemia. The Kleinricherts are the owners of the Ark Restaurant in Davie, Florida. They use the popular restaurant as a tool to raise funds. More than 300 plaques, designed and donated by Paula Anderson, who owns Designed Advertising in Davie, decorate the walls of the restaurant. Each represents a donation of $100 to the cause. Thanks to the Kleinricherts and their efforts to help children they have raised over 5 million dollars. Many of the fundraising events include Golf Tournaments, Bob Amchir's Toys in the Sun Run, and a Black Tie Gala each year.

2. STARBRIGHT World

A computer system– using STARBRIGHT World, allows seriously ill children to be involved in an active and lively community that can help distract them from a painful procedure or turn what was an afternoon of loneliness into hours of friendship building. “Growing up in the hospital is quite a challenge because nobody else quite knows what you’re going through. STARBRIGHT Computers enable children to communicate with each other; it seems like you have an instant friend. Cost of this computer system is $35,000.

Schott established the Schott Center in 1986 in honor of his parents, Nellie and Joseph Schott, Sr. His vision was to create a special place of understanding and love, one that would openly welcome all individuals. His vision has evolved into a mission to build an affordable, residential community for people who are deaf or disabled.
